Amira Abutaa

Youth Counsellor

Amira Abutaa is a passionate advocate and mental health professional. She is currently working as a Youth Counselor at Abrar Trauma and Mental Health Services. Amira provides services through one-on-one counselling, group counselling and workshop facilitation, both online and in-person. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto in Women and Gender Studies, Sociology and Psychology in 2018. In 2021, she completed the Addictions and Mental Health post-graduate certificate program at Humber college, and is currently a member of the Canadian Counselling Psychotherapy Association. Through her placement position while studying at Humber, she gained experience in organizing, creating content for, and facilitating group sessions for newcomers to Canada. After graduating from her undergraduate degree, Amira worked overseas with various NGOs in the Middle East. Her education and work experience has provided her with knowledge on the systemic issues that minority groups are challenged with, as well as a substantial understanding of holistic approaches to supporting various mental health issues. Amira possesses strong leadership qualities and skills. She is enthusiastic about working with youth. She is eager to aid in the facilitation of long-term positive changes in the mental health and mindset of the youth to aid in the creation of our future in our society.
