Maryam Tehranchi

Marriage and Family counsellor

English, Farsi

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor, offering services in English and Farsi to couples and individuals who are feeling stuck and/or unfulfilled in life. Once an individual reaches out to me we begin the work of exploring the powerful, yet often invisible forces that can shape our lives and move us away from our values and toward distress. Working as an educator has contributed more to my understanding and empathy toward my clients, as well as an ability to hold space for deep emotional expression. I draw inspiration from several evidence-based models of therapy including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, and Gottman method of couple therapy. The way, I engage with these, and other approaches is orchestrated by the unique needs, strengths, and personal resources that my clients bring to the therapeutic process.

I focus on how you make meaning of your challenges and strengths, within the broader context of family, community, and society. In our work together we might work on emotional regulation, on discovering needs and frustrations behind emotions, and feeling more confident in the decisions you make.

Further, we would be moving beyond trying to think about solutions

to your challenges, and instead feeling your way back through a reconnection with your emotions and body. It would be my privilege to accompany you on your unique journey to a more meaningful life.

This is how I approach my clients: walking alongside you on your journey, with all the challenges and celebrations that it entails. Please note I currently offer virtual sessions as well.
